DEBARKED GLUONS BY MAIJA HAAVISTO

I’m sorry to disappoint
but what looks like hardwood
is really just MDF
kind of, very vaguely related to wood
but mostly just junk
glued together with more junk
that can’t hold against
water, oxygen or even side-eyes

this is how we make things
grind meat and glue it back together
grind trees and glue them back together
grind humans ...well
it’d be nice if we were made
of sugar and spice and stuff
but really it’s just errors and junk
glued together
junk DNA is transcribed into junk
that breaks apart
humans are errors glued with junk
that breaks apart
even atoms are really just junk
glued together with junk
galactic leftovers
and eventually, even those break apart
like the flimsiest Ikea MDF
so it’s not like this garbage gluebody
is much different from
your pinewood pecs
held together by meat glue
held together by looking away
