CONTRIBUTOR GUIDELINES

MAGAZINE

We are interested in works that focus on and explore the intersection between art, design and the environment. We only publish work in our magazine by those from marginalised genders, traditionally underrepresented and historically excluded communities.

Topics can include (but by no means are limited to): urban environments, natural environments, spaces and places, art and design, nature, ecology, textiles, materials, fashion, innovation, conservation, climate, circular economy, circular and sustainable design, sustainability, planning, architecture etc. We are open to new ideas, perspectives and pieces which cross over between different areas.

Submissions to our magazine issues (online and print) are open throughout varying periods of the year. See CONTRIBUTE to submit to our issues.

We are always open to pitches for our (online) magazine. We publish journalistic writing, personal essays, photojournalism, critical essays/reviews, op-eds, non-fiction storytelling, visual storytelling, essays and features/interviews.

Full pieces are anywhere between 500-1500 words, however we do also consider longer-form content.

All work should be original and plagiarism checks will be made prior to publishing.

If you are pitching a piece that has already been published elsewhere, please ensure you have full copyright and permission, and include all necessary details in the pitching form.

We welcome pitches from previous contributors, new writers and writers whose first language is not English.

Completed pieces should be sent as a Google Doc/Word Document, including: title, word count, links and references as appropriate, images with captions and credits where applicable (if part of your piece), short third-person biography and any links (social media, website, portfolio etc). If sending a large file with additional attachments (e.g. photos, videos), please send using wetransfer. Please send any questions or queries to our email and not through the pitching form. Once we have received the completed piece we aim to publish it within 1-2 weeks. We may make small editorial changes prior to publishing for clarity, if any larger changes need to be made we will let you know before the piece is published.

Please note, there is no remuneration for work published on our online magazine as we are a small volunteer-led platform. We hope to offer payment in the very near future. We will never publish work which displays any form of derogatory, discriminatory or bigoted content, language or references. We reserve the right to remove work across all our platforms without warning and ensure that the contributor is unable to submit to us again, if this is disregarded.

Please complete the pitching form in full to avoid any delays, and double check you have entered the correct contact information as this will be used to reach out if we are interested.

To pitch us please use this form here. Pitches sent by email are not monitored, and may be missed. If we are interested in your pitch you will hear back from us within 1-5 days. Once this period has passed, feel free to send us another pitch. If you are unsure whether your piece will fit, please send the form and we will respond as appropriate. If you have any other questions please include them in the form.
